The San Francisco Bay Area, or simply the Bay Area, is a region in Northern California, United States. Located about 400 miles North of Los Angeles, the Bay Area is a collection of cities and counties surrounding the San Francisco Bay including San Francisco, Oakland, and San Jose. The combined area of San Francisco and San Jose is the second largest in California to Los Angeles. 7.15 million people call this 6,984 square mile region home.
